A one-piece top may be just the unique characteristic you’re looking for in your instrument. Due to the size of tree they require, single piece soundboards are not widely available. But once in a while, we find an opportunity to cut these rare beauties. With each grain line representing a year, these tops exhibit almost double the unbroken timeline compared to the regular two-piece tops. Some luthiers will match the corresponding grain progression with the bass to treble side of the instrument. A single-piece soundboard is not only a unique attribute in itself, but also a piece of history that can be kept alive for years to come.
