Bearclaw soundboards are assessed on figure intensity, color, and base wood quality according to our bearclaw grading standards. The final valuation is based on the total of these attributes along with a set’s place in a series.
All soundboards are bookmatched with bearclaw intensity rated on a scale of 1 - 5. The figure ranges from our #1 bearclaw which is the most figured to our #5 bearclaw which is less figured but remains the focal point of the soundboard. We offer this figure range in either colored or clean wood for steel string, classical, and ukulele sizes.
Sometimes we find sequences of bearclaw where the figure runs through several sets, and we offer these groups together to be sold as a series.
